THE VESPERS OF LOVE AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA

On the Sunday of Pascha, 19th April 2020, the celebratory Vespers of the Resurrection was served at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas of Alexandria.

His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, together with the clergy, proceeded to the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Savvas where he presided over the Vespers of Love.

Immediately after the Service, the African Students sang a hymn, a song in honour of the Alexandrian Primate, wishing him many years and thanking him, for all that the Second Throne Patriarchate does for the millions of African faithful Christians.

On his behalf, the Alexandrian Primate conveyed his wishes to Greece, his flock throughout Africa and the world at large, praying that the global pandemic would be overcome soon.

‘Our hearts are filled with optimism and hope with the joyful news of the Resurrection. The heavens opened and they came to give courage. To dissolve every pandemic that comes to make the sky cloudy. No! The sun of righteousness, the Risen Jesus Christ, dissolves the clouds. It drives away sadness. And in this position, it brings joy, because ‘Christ is risen from the dead,’ said Patriarch Theodoros.
