The : “warm heart of Africa welcomed the Missionary Patriarch”

On 14th February 2020, following a long and tiring journey, the Alexandrian Primate, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Daniel Metropolitan of Aksum, arrived in the heart of the African Continent, the Republic of Malawi (formerly Nyasaland), for his second pastoral visit to the newly-established Orthodox Diocese of Malawi, as Primate of the Throne of St Mark.

At the “Chileka” International airport he was warmly welcomed by His Grace Fotios Bishop of Malawi, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Hassan Shawky , the Honourable Consul of Greece Mrs. Maria Giannaki-Kritza, the Honourable Chairlady of the Hellenic Community of Blantyre Mrs. Amphtriti Bogdanou, the Rev. Protopresbyter Fr. Ermolaos Iatrou, Parish Priest oft he Hellenic Community, the Honourable Chairman of the Parish Council oft he Community Church of St Nektarios Mr. Ioannis Skordis, the Clergy of the Diocese, students of the Seminary and of the High School of the Phalombe District.

His Beatitude thanked everyone for the cordial welcome, stressing that he feels particularly joy and emotion once again in the beautiful country of Malawi, because for two and a half years it was under his pastoral responsibility as Metropolitan of Zimbabwe, remembering the missionary journey taken throughout the territory, in order to secure the Orthodox faith.
