TELEGRAM OF CONDOLENCES FROM HIS BEATITUE TO THE ISLAMIC COUNCIL OF AL AZHAR ON THE DEATH OF THE GREAT SHEIK OF AL AZHAR DR. M. TANTAWI
On 11th March 2010 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa sent the following telegram to the Islamic Council of Al Azhar on the death of the Great Sheik of Al Azhar, Dr. Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi.
“On hearing of the sudden death of the Great Sheik of Al Azhar Dr. Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, we express our deepest condolences to His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr Hosni Mubarak, the people of Egypt, the Arab world and his family.
The deceased Great Sheik was a teacher of calm and peace, who devoted his entire life, through his experience, his wisdom and his strength to people and to the Islamic faith”.
