SIGNING OF THE CONTRACT BY HIS BEATITUDE FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN THE PATRIARCHAL LIBRARY AND THE ALEXANDRIAN LIBRARY

On 2nd October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa went to the Alexandrian Library and signed a six-year contract of cooperation with the Manuscript Centre situated there, for the restoration, preservation and digitization of manuscript codices stored at the historic Patriarchal Library.

It should be noted that three manuscripts had been restored as a gesture of goodwill by the Centre to the ancient Patriarchate. This paved the way for the gradual restoration of the rare spiritual wealth of the ancient Patriarchal Library.

Following the signing of the contract His Beatitude was taken on a guided tour of the Manuscript Centre of the Alexandrian Library during which qualified personnel gave a demonstration on the restoration techniques used.
