PATRIARCHAL OFFICIATIONS OF HIS BEATITUDE THE POPE OF ALEXANDRIA IN CYPRUS
On Friday, June 27, 2025, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, presided over the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated in the Holy Church of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Nicosia, where the See of the Exarchate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus is located.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the holy memory of Saint Cyril Loukaris, who, prior to his Patriarchal tenure in Constantinople, served as Patriarch of Alexandria as Cyril III.
At the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, the faithful received with devotion a portion of the holy relics of Saint Cyril Loukaris, which was granted by the Holy Monastery of Agarathos in Crete and is now kept as a precious spiritual treasure in the Holy Church of Saint Savvas. His Beatitude praised the martyr and luminary figure of Saint Cyril, underlining his profound theological constitution, unwavering Orthodox faith, sound judgment and enlightened theological discourse.
The Eucharistic Γατηερινγ was attended by the Commander of the HELLENIC FORCES OF CYPRUS,, Cretan soldiers serving in the National Guard of Cyprus, as well as the Grand Archon of the Church of Alexandria, Mr. Konstantinos Tsiridis, Lawyer of Limassol.
The next day, Saturday, June 28, 2025, His Beatitude the Patriarch officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Nektarios in Geri, in the presence of a multitude of believers, including Cypriot brothers and sisters who had returned from South Africa, maintaining an unbreakable bond with the Ancient Patriarchate. Present, praying together, were His Grace Panaretos Bishop of Nyeri and Mount Kenya, His Grace Nikodimos, Bishop of Nitria and Exarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus. Also present was the Honorable Deputy Mayor of Geri and Latsia, Mr. Neophytos Papalazarou.
During his speech, His Beatitude, visibly moved, warmly thanked His Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. George and the Venerable Hierarchy surrounding Him for their love, steadfast support and unbreakable unity with the Second Throne Church. Also, referring to His recent missionary journey to Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan, he conveyed to the congregation vivid experiences and testimonies, underlining that Orthodoxy has the power to transform lives, even in the areas of Africa most “wounded” by human wickedness and temporary expediency areas of Africa. In conclusion, he offered to the Holy Church two icons of exceptional artistic and spiritual value, of Panagia Kykkotis and Saint Seraphim of Sarov.
