PATRIARCHAL DIVINE LITURGY IN CAIRO ON THE SUNDAY OF ORTHODOXY

     On the Sunday of Pentecost, 12th June 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa conducted the Divine Liturgy and the Vespers of Kneeling at the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Nicholas in Cairo, concelebrated by His Grace Nikodimos, Bishop of Nitria, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, and His Grace Niphon, Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo.

     Prior to the end of the Eucharistic gathering His Beatitude preached the homily and announced his decision to grant a small area within the Greek Orthodox Cemetery of Cairo, for the interment  of needy Arabic Orthodox Christians, and giving the relative PatriarchalLetter to the Deputy Chairman of the Arabic Speaking Orthodox Community of Cairo, Mr. Farid Houri.

     Present at the Liturgical Prayers were His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece in Egypt Mr. Christodoulos Lazaris, His Excellency the Ambassador of Cyprus Mr Konstantinos Leontiou, the Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Cairo Mr. Christos Kavalis, the Deputy Chairman of the Arabic Speaking Orthodox Community of Cairo Mr. Farid Houri, representatives of Greek societies and many faithful.
