PATRIARCHAL DIVINE LITURGY AT ST NICHOLAS IN CAIRO ON THE FEAST OF PENTECOST

On 7th June 2020, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Pentecost, at the Patriarchal Church of St Nicholas, in Hamzawi, Cairo, concelebrating with His Eminence Nicodemus Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo and His Eminence Nicholas of Ermopolis.

The Alexandrian Primate sent a message of support and hope for all suffering African brothers and sisters. He prayed that God would protect the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, as well as Greece and Cyprus.

‘From the Holy Monastery of St Nicholas in historic Hamzawi, to the church of the Most Holy and Blessed Patriarchs who glorified the church of the Saint, Apostle and Evangelist Mark, where the Saint of our century, Saint Nektarios, lived, I send a message of love to all churches, to all people, especially to all our suffering African brothers and sisters who await the light of Christ to shine in their suffering hearts. Particularly tough to our fellow human beings, exhausted by the pandemic. A ray of hope has dawned to today, the day of Pentecost. Our Church celebrates, the entire Christian world celebrates and together with us many fellow human beings who wish to see this planet as an islet of love and hope for all who come to this world and hope for a better tomorrow, because our world has become a small neighbourhood”.

After the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude celebrated the Vespers for the Holy Spirit, during which he read the Kneeling Prayers.
