Very moved and with deep sadness, we were informed of the passing of the much-loved Patriarch Irenaios and hasten from our See to join with you and with the pious flock of the Serbian Patriarchate our prayers and petitions for the repose of his soul.

Patriarch Irenaios was a great spiritual figure, a remarkable gifted Ecclesiastical leader.

He has left behind memories of a bright man and Patriarch of the Church. May the God of love place his soul among the righteous and in the land of the living.

We pray that the sister church of Serbia will appoint his worthy successor.
