ORDINATION TO THE DIACONATE OF AN AFRICAN STUDENT OF THE PATRIARCHAL ACADEMY OF ALEXANDRIA

     On 20th June 2010 His grace Bishop Gabriel of Mareotis, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, by order of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted the service of ordination to the Diaconate of the African student Zacharia Mulingwa, a student at the Patriarchal Academy of “Agios Athanasios” at the Holy Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.  

     The newly-ordained Deacon Fr Zacharias, originally from Tanzania and the Holy Metropolis of Mouantza, is the first of the students of the Patriarchal Academy to be ordained to the priesthood at the See of the ancient Patriarchate.

     On the next day, 21st June 2010, the new Deacon, together with His Grace Gabriel of Mareotis and the Dean Father Narkissos Gammos presented himself to His Beatitude to receive the Patriarchal blessings and advice for the beginning of his diaconate.
