LETTER TO ARCHBISHOP CHRYSOSTOMOS OF CYPRUS

Your Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of New Justinia and All Cyprus, in Christ God our beloved and most dear brother and concelebrant, we embrace Your Beatitude in fraternal love and address you amicably.
It is with the greatest sorrow that we categorically express our unreserved support and our most intense abhorrence for the unacceptable and provocative actions of the illegal occupying forces of northern Cyprus in arresting and placing under detention His Grace Porphyrios Bishop of Neapolis and the members of the European Parliament together with their colleagues, during their visit to the Holy Church of Agia Zoni, which is in tormented Ammohostos, on 12th March 2011.
| The above action comprises a flagrant violation of human rights, which are specified in the Constitution of the United Nations Organisation, as well as an outright offence against the highest Ecclesiastical Office of a country – member of the European Union and its official guests. It clearly reveals the intentional and deliberate effort of the illegal regime to disguise and silence the systematic dereliction and pillage of the religious monuments of the international cultural heritage, which are in the occupied part of the island.
We unequivocally assure Your Beatitude that our ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa has always been by the side of the people of Cyprus in their unshaken struggle for the restitution of the historic injustice which goes against humanity in its entirety. Also, we have always spoken out internationally for justice in Cyprus and we are a tireless supporter of the correct solution to the Cypriot problem.
Hoping for a quick restitution of justice for the national issue of the birthplace of heroes and saints, Cyprus, we pray for all blessing from God and strength for Your most responsible and Hierarchal duties and we remain in God’s love and honour,
