CONFERENCE OF THE THREE PRIMATES ON ISSUES OF THE MIDDLE EAST

On 24th February 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated during Orthros and the Divine Liturgy in commemoration “of the miracle of the Kolyva” of the Great Martyr St Theodoros of Tyre, at the Holy Church of St Savvas in the old city of Nicosia, a dependency of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus.

His Beatitude was accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan George of Guinea and Athanasios Metropolitan of Cyrene.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, in which many people participated, he tonsured and consecrated as Archimandrite of the Throne of St Mark, the Exarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus, Fr. Athenodoros Papaevripiades, praying that he would continue more intensely the work which he does in the Exarchate of Cyprus.

Immediately thereafter, at the Mansion of the Archdiocese of Cyprus, a meeting was held between the Alexandrian Primate and His Beatitude Ioannis Patriarch of Antioch and His Beatitude Chrysostomos Archbishop of Cyprus, in which the three Primates exchanged views on issues pertaining to Orthodoxy, the Middle East and the persecution of Christians.

The Patriarch of Alexandria then paid a visit to the Exarchate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria which is under construction in Geri, Nicosia, where he inspected the ongoing construction works of the Holy Church of Ss. Nektarios, Porphyrios and Paisios.

A notable fact is the finding of drinkable water in the grounds of te Exarchate, directly behind the Holy Sanctuary of the Holy Church of St Porphyrios Kafsokalyvitis.

It was there that he received a visit by the Honorable Mayor of Geri, in Nicosia, Mr. Neophytos Papalazarou, with whom he discussed ways to utilizes the surrounding areas of the Exarchate, for the benefit of the citizens of Geri.
