ADMINISTRATIVE PROMOTIONS AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA

     On Palm Sunday 8th April 2012, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted the Divine Liturgy and preached the homily at the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria, together with His Grace Gabriel, Bishop of Mareotis and Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria.

     Prior to the end of the Divine Liturgy His Beatitude announced the promotions of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Niphon Poulopoulos to Deputy Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Ancient Patriarchate and of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Apostolos Trifyllis to Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.

     The Very Reverend Archimandrite Niphon Poulopoulos was born in Thessaloniki in 1970. He holds a post-graduate degree from the Theological Faculty of the University of Thessaloniki specialising in the History of the Slavic Churches.

     The Very Reverend Archimandrite Apostolos Trifyllis was born in Athens in 1976. He holds a post-graduate degree from the Universities of Belgrade and Lyon specializing in Policy and Administration of Culture, while still continuing his studies at the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens and at the Centre of Hellenistic Studies of the Alexandrian Library and the University of Alexandria. He served as Director of the Patriarchal Library of Alexandria.
